Due to a generous donation by an anonymous AET member,
the W.S.U. Library has a special collection of books on teaching in higher
education. These books represent the
best of the current thinking on college level teaching and are highly
recommended by the Academy for Effective Teaching. The titles and a synopsis of the content of

Seminars
The Academy for Effective Teaching is devoted to
fostering effective teaching by engaging in various activities. One such activity is to sponsor seminars that
focus on teaching and learning strategies.
These seminars are conducted by the best teachers on campus and deal
with topics that are of interest to all teaching faculty. The Academy typically offers two seminars
each year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Announcements will be made in advance for
each seminar. Look for them.
Videos
The Academy and Media Resources have collaborated on
producing a series of videos on the art of teaching. The videos cover a wide range of topics on
teaching philosophy and techniques and
feature award-winning teachers sharing information with fellow teachers. These

Mentoring
The Academy sponsors a mentoring program for teaching
faculty. Although the program was
originally designed for new faculty member, it has been expanded to include any
teacher who wishes to improve their teaching performance. If you want more information about this program,
